Valmalenco

Valmalenco

In the heart of Valtellina, a few kilometers from Sondrio, Valmalenco opens up.
Valmalenco (val Malénch) is a side valley of the Valtellina, initially narrow and deep, which extends for about fifteen kilometers from Sondrio northwards up to Pizzo Bernina, crossing the western Rhaetian Alps and separating the Bernina Alps in two, leaving to the west the mountains of Val Bregaglia in Switzerland.
Evidently the name refers to the Mallero stream that runs through it. Valmalenco is also known for being an authentic deposit of over 260 varieties of minerals whose extraction activity (mainly serpentine, soapstone and talc) and related processing are qualitatively highly appreciated and the processed products are exported all over the world.
But Valmalenco is also known for the practice of winter sports. In fact, here is the ideal terrain for Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and ski mountaineering. Chiesa Valmalenco, Lanzada and Caspoggio are ski resorts with consolidated traditions, where the thrill of a descent into the valley on the sunny slopes of Palù alternates with the difficulties of the challenging slopes of the international competitions of Caspoggio.
Valmalenco is courtesy, friendship, traditions that are still evident in the tastes and aromas of the cuisine, typical products and fine wines. Excellent hotel accommodation, possibility of stays with personalized formulas, programs full of entertainment and attractions to satisfy every need, an innovative Conference Center to host business meetings in a fascinating natural environment; discos, pubs and piano bars, shopping. And again..... a modern indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, sports halls, ice skating rinks, artificial climbing walls on ice or rock, the signs of the past that come to life while walking in the characteristic nuclei of the Valley guarantee opportunities for leisure and relaxation.
